Project Type:
Renovation
Location:
Peaks Island, Maine
The expansion of this water-front home overlooking Casco Bay on Peaks Island in Maine was designed primarily for this Texas couple to welcome many friends and family visitors during the summer, although it is certainly a wonderful place to be during all seasons.
The addition includes an oversized 2-car garage with 2 bedroom/bathroom suites above. Adjacent bunk rooms are a fun place for the couple’s grandchildren and their friends to rest when not enjoying the island’s many recreational activities. A curved stairway in the tower links the 1st and 2nd floors in the guest wing while the master bedroom suite in the main section of the home is accessed by the existing main stairway. The entire 2nd floor connects through a common hallway, laundry room, and morning kitchen.
An existing 2nd floor bedroom was transformed into an office and connected to the master suite with dramatic views overlooking Casco Bay and the City of Portland in the distance.
